VISION
Bluewater Primary Care Centre will be set-up as a group practice that is part of a Family Health Organization (FHO). Started by Drs. John O’Mahony and Sean Peterson, the group aims to alleviate the stress of practice management by providing a turn-key solution for physicians while tailoring the workload to each physician’s wishes.
The practice will be formed of patients acquired from retiring physicians. These large practices have been combined to allow the customization of practice size across multiple physicians. Paper records are in the process of being converted to electronic format within a shared Electronic Medical Record (Practice Solutions) in order to provide the convenience of using EMR to dictate and store patient notes and charts.
STAFFING & administration
A team of well-trained support staff will provide not only administrative support, but also start the encounter notes in SOAP format, complete diabetes and congestive heart failure tracking flowsheets, update medication, prepare script renewals, and address preventative care needs of patients in advance of their encounter with the physician.
Furthermore, under the direction of the physician, the staff will provide follow-up conversations with patients to provide results, further direction, and a follow-up plan. Finally, the staff will assist physicians in the completion of forms by preparing a draft with attached relevant information.
compensation
Compensation is proportional to the workload of the physician and will be a very competitive and attractive offer. It far exceeds the New Graduate Entry Program guidelines without the restrictions of the program and with a take home pay greater than the gross pay offered through the guidelines. With the added benefits of no overhead costs and a turn-key solution in a group practice setting, this type of group practice set-up is particularly beneficial for new grads with student debt, etc.
The group will be formed of FHO physicians and contract physicians. The FHO physicians will have ultimate responsibility for patients rostered to them and hence will earn a premium for that responsibility and oversight.
